Connecticut Food and Farm02

Cafemantic is a coffee house but so much more.

A Moveable Feast is the latest venture of restaurateur Andrew Gütt. Little more than a year after transforming his neighborhood coffee shop Cafémantic into a destination small plates restaurant with a farm inspired menu, Gütt will now be offering the menu creations and hospitality of his team for off-site events.

A Moveable Feast will offer a wide range of event planning services: menu and event design, staffing, venue selection and event planning.  Growing Cafémantic to include A Moveable Feast has been both a logical and natural progression.

According to Gütt, “since opening in late 2009 we had always catered small group lunches and sporadic events.  But last year, after expanding into a full service restaurant the desire of our guests to bring our menu and hospitality to their own celebrations has challenged us determine how we could make it mobile without sacrificing quality.”

To helm the expansion into catering and event planning, newly hired Events Manager Sheri Harbec has come on board with 12 years of wedding and event planning experience most recently with A Thyme to Cook of Stonington.

“Many of my event planning experiences comes from the coastal communities of Connecticut.  It’s a nice change of scenery going from events with the Long Island Sound as the backdrop to events with the beautiful countryside and old New England villages of the Quiet Corner.” says Harbec.

Building from Cafemantic’s partnerships with local farms and the restaurant’s success with the Coventry Regional Farmer’s Market Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, Cafémantic chef Jonathan Hudak has designed A Moveable Feast’s menu guidelines to combine contemporary cuisine composed from fresh, locally sourced ingredients.  Through catering, Cafémantic will be able to showcase the products of their favorite farms and artisans that had been previously limited to just their restaurant menu.  Catering off-site events enables Cafémantic to present a farm’s latest product to a wider audience.

“With our catering, an event with out-of-town guests can experience Connecticut grown at its best. We’re making eating local accessible.” says Hudak.

As A Moveable Feast puts down roots in Willimantic, Gütt hopes his customers will turn to his catering and event planning services for business, university and private events where he can deliver the same thoughtful and authentic food combined with the genuine hospitality experienced at Cafémantic.
